Here are the most expensive items that I own even though I am a frugal person. Since being frugal does not mean that you can’t have nice items. The items mentioned are high quality to me and items I know will get used. I chose to write this blog post because I wanted to be realistic with people.
- Sunglasses around 200 dollars
I bought a pair of prescription purple sunglasses with blue light a few years ago. Since I wear glasses I need a prescription pair versus regular sunglasses. I also wanted to protect my eyes from the sun and straining when using screens. Whenever I tried to wear regular sunglasses it was hard to see.
2. Prom dress 250 dollars
I bought this prom dress for my senior year of high school a few years ago. It cost more than I planned to spend on my dress but I made sure to set aside money for prom. Also, I do hope to find an occasion to wear this dress again to get more use out of the dress.
3. Tablet 200 dollars plus tax
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab series Tablet as my first big purchase freshman year of high school. I was very proud of this purchase because it was my first “big” purchase after I had been working at my first job for a few months.
4. Sasung Galaxy s9+ 64 GB 295 dollars
I needed a new phone because my old phone had limited storage and was slowly falling apart. So I bought a refurbished phone from the Samsung website. I bought a secondhand phone because it was less expensive and more sustainable than buying a new phone. As a comparison, the same phone but new retailed for 699.99 on the Samsung website. I did research on how Samsung inspects refurbished phones and made sure the warranty was good.
5. Vera Bradley Crossbody Purse 50-60 dollars
I was given a Vera Bradley Crossbody RFID Mini Hipster Purse for Christmas a few years ago.
6. Pela Phone Case 45 dollars
After I bought the refurbished phone I needed to get a new phone case. I have been looking at Pela for a while because they are a part of 1% for the Planet and the phone cases are compostable. But I was waiting until I needed a new phone case.
I bought my Pela Phone Case when they were having a sale. Pela is constantly doing sales throughout the year if you are looking to save some money.
7. Period Underwear
I bought period underwear because I have been searching for more sustainable menstrual products. I found them to be comfortable and worth the money. I am also saving money in the long term because I won’t need to purchase as many tampons or pads. I bought two pairs of Thinx period classic hiphugger underwear for 68 dollars total. I bought them when they were on sale and combined it with a discount code. I bought my period underwear from Thinx but there are other period underwear companies that exist.
Thinx offers sizes from extra-extra small to three extra-large. The prices range from 24 to 42 dollars depending on the style and absorbency. If you use my referral link you can get 10 dollars off of your first order. Thinx also offers free shipping on your first order
