Today I am going to be sharing low waste gift ideas as a part of my low waste gift guide series. I will be posting a series of blog posts up until Christmas with ideas to help you find the right gift during the holiday season.

It’s important to think about who are you giving to and if they will use the gift. I have compiled a list of gift ideas that can fit a variety of budgets to get you started.

Adults

  1. Fountain Pen with ink refill

You can purchase ink refills in glass bottles/packaging

2. Beeswax wrap

This something that I am waiting to buy because I don’t need it yet. But I like how this is a good alternative to plastic wrap or foil when storing food. You can also find vegan food wraps if you prefer those over ones made with beeswax.

3. Stainless steel tiffin

4. Compost bin

5. Reusable grocery bags

6. Glass food storage containers

7. Dry Erase Notebook

8. Bath bombs

If you know someone that loves bath bombs you can buy them package free at Lush. Or a lot of zero-waste stores selling them in plastic-free packaging.

9. Pela Phone Case

Once my current phone case breaks I plan on buying a Pela Phone case. I like how they are 1% for the planet which means they donate 1% of their profits to environmental organizations. Also, they are compostable at their end of life instead of going to landfills.

10. Stainless steel razor

11. Rechargeable batteries

12. Experiences

Experience gifts can lead to memories that will last longer than material gifts. They also don’t need to be fancy or expensive. Think about your budget, the giftee’s interests, and if it is something that they would enjoy.

  • National parks or beach pass
  • Audible subscription
  • Babbel (Learn a new language) subscription
  • A gift card to a local restaurant
  • Online class based on their interests
  • Museum tickets

But how do I give an experience gift to someone?

  1. You “gift” the experience in an envelope with the tickets, reservation confirmation, or a piece of paper saying what they are going to do.
  2. Gift with an item associated with the experience. For example, if you buy a national park pass include a map or pamphlet of different national parks to visit.

This post is not sponsored, I just like the companies that are mentioned. If you are trying to be more sustainable and zero waste I encourage you not to be too hard on yourselves. You trying to be a more conscious consumer matter and it makes a difference.

Also, you are not obligated to buy presents for everyone in your life. I buy Christmas gifts for my immediate family and a few close friends. In the past, I have also done a secret Santa/snowflake gift swap with my friends but we are not doing it this year.
