These are items that I have in my home emergency kit based on me and my family’s needs and where we live. It can vary depending on each person’s situation that you have in your home emergency kit. The purpose of a home emergency kit is to be prepared if you can’t leave your house due to an emergency such as a power outage or snowstorm. It’s better to be prepared so you don’t have to rush out and spend money and it gives you peace of mind. However, I am not encouraging you to doomsday prep or clear shelves.
I used FEMA‘s emergency preparedness recommendations as a guideline of what I should include in my emergency kit and added other items I thought I would use. I will talk more about what’s in my 72-hour kit if I have to leave my house another future post.
