Here are my Frugal wins and Fails for two months. I did not have a lot to post for October and November so I decided to combine them. My goal with this blog post series is to be transparent with you all about what I spend. I want to celebrate the wins and learn from my fails.
Frugal Wins
- I went to a work event that was serving a catered dinner. They had a lot of leftover food so I got sent home with free food.
- I hosted a picnic in October to celebrate my birthday and I dressed up fancy. I only spent 70 dollars on food which was going to serve 15 people. I bought food to make a charcuterie board, DIY sandwiches, chips, fruit, and cookies for dessert. If you would like me to make a blog post about this let me know.
- On Halloween after spending time with friends I made a sandwich instead of ordering takeout. I was tired and did not want to spend more money.
Frugal Fails
- I bought 37.95 including shipping worth of candy from HelloSweetsCandy. They are an online candy store that I discovered through TikTok that I have been wanting to support for awhile. I got some Trolli eyeball gummies, Efrutti planet gummies, maltesers, sugar cookie hershey’s candy bars, and oreo caramel creams. The candy did taste really good but I don’t like to do impulse orders like this very often. I did order again in November for some christmas gifts.
- I spent 9 dollars on two boxes of cereal at CVS. I live at an on campus apartment at college and their is a CVS across the street. I went to get my flu shot at CVS and I decided to browse the cereal. The price tags said 1.99 for certain boxes of cereal. So I bought some cheerios and cinnamon toast crunch but at the register it didn’t ring up correctly. When I asked an employee they said one of the cereals was not on sale. This is a reminder to double check prices or politely ask for a price check if you are unsure.
- I bought a book for 8.99 because i liked the cover and I was intrigued. I love reading but I don’t buy a lot of books because I have so many. Instead I usually use the library or buy secondhand when I do buy books. At least I was supporting a small and local business near me.
