Frugal ways to celebrate Halloween

Hi everyone,

Since Halloween is coming up I decided to write about frugal ways you can celebrate. You can also check out my blog post frugal and sustainable ways to celebrate fall.

Photo says happy halloween. It has three cats, bats flying in the air and a jack o lantern with a witch hat on it's head.

1. Movie Night

2. Make Halloween Themed Food

I tried to find fun food ideas that are affordable and can be made low waste. Check out my Pinterest board below for ideas.

3. Candy Scavenger Hunt

If you have kids this is something fun that you can do at home. I have seen this idea online where you hide candy around your home like an easter egg hunt. Such as candy in cardboard or paper packaging. You can also use non-food options for this. Then you have kids search for it using clues as hints. Depending on the kid’s age level you can adjust or skip the clues.

4. Boo Baskets

This is where you fill a basket with Halloween treats and goodies for someone. Then you deliver the basket to their house without them noticing. Include instructions so they can spread the Halloween spirit to someone else. You can google free booed printables online that you can include in the basket.

5. Tell scary stories

6. Ghost Photoshoot

7. Wear a halloween costume

You can enter a virtual costume contest or wear a Halloween costume to work depending on if your job allows it.

8. Support a small business

9. Register to vote

You also might be able to vote early in person or using a mail in ballot.

10. Attend a virtual halloween event

I encourage you to follow your local health officials guidelines on Halloween, wear a mask, and stay home if sick.
