I love giving gifts to people and I can’t wait until my friends move into a house so I can get them a housewarming present. Here are practical and low-waste gift ideas to help you find the perfect housewarming gift. I chose gift ideas that could fit a variety of budgets.

1. Candle

You can buy a candle from a small business or make your own.

2. Plant

3. Olive oil and bread

4. 100% recycled toilet paper wrapped in paper

5. Wholesale Club Membership (Costco, BJ’s, Sam’s club etc).

This can help them save money on gas, prescriptions, food and more. Since the membership pays for itself if you buy what you use often in bulk. However “use often” is emphasized because you should only buy items in bulk that you will use often and it’s a good deal.

6. Gift basket

You can make your own gift basket that fits your budget and customize it.

Tip you can put a newspaper or a box at the bottom of the basket to make it look more full/add height.

7. Stamps

These are a practical gift that the gift recipient can use to mail letters or pay bills.

If they live in the United States according to the USPS website the stamps are made of materials that can be recycled. Or they could reuse stamps using ideas from Nikita Rose

8. ABC Fire Extinguisher

9. Compost bin

10. Bamboo cutting board

11. Bulk dish soap or dish soap block and bamboo dish brush

You can buy their favorite dish soap in bulk to reduce the overall amount of packaging versus them buying several smaller bottles. Or you can often find dish soap blocks package or plastic free.

12. Reusable bags

Useful for when they are doing errands or grocery shopping

13. Cloth Napkins

14. Wool dryer balls

They are a more sustainable option to dryer sheets because they are reusable, remove static cling, and they help dry your clothes faster.

15. Glass or stainless steel food storage containers

16. Bagless vacumn

17. Herbs and Spices in glass jars
