Finding frugal Hobbies

I wasn’t sure how I was going to title this blog post first because you can make any hobby frugal. Since if there is a hobby that you enjoy doing such as sports, cooking or crafting you don’t need to give it up when you are trying to save money. Instead, see if there are other expenses that you can cut. Here are some frugal hobbies that you can do at home right now. These are just some examples of hobbies that I enjoy and wanted to share with you.

Cosplay

Cosplay does not have to be expensive. You can use your natural hair, clothes from your closet, thrift, and DIY props. I wrote a previous blog post cosplay on a budget in January if you want more information.

Sewing

Sewing is a great skill to have and can give you a sense of empowerment. It can also save you money by allowing you to make and repair clothes. Fabric does not need to be expensive I buy my fabric from a local discount fabric store or buy remnants (extra fabric from bolts of fabric). Or I use old fabric that I have lying around the house from past projects. If you don’t have fabric at home right now you can also upcycle your clothes by turning them into something new.

Reading

Reading can allow you to learn something new or to go on adventures. I often go to the library but since it is closed I have been rereading books that I already have at home or reading free ebooks online from the library.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and it doesn’t have to cost anything. Right now with social distancing going on you can still volunteer from home. Good Morning America offered some ideas of nonprofits and many communities have things that they may need help with such as sewing face masks.

Dance

Dancing is something that you can do anywhere and you don’t need to be a professional. Since dance is all about self-expression and having fun. If you want to learn how to dance Youtube has a lot of dance tutorials.
